School Level Exams
School education is provided through both public and private schools. Public schools are government-funded and provide free education to all students. Private schools are funded by tuition fees and may charge higher fees for students who come from outside the local community.
The school level education system in Nepal is regulated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST). The MoEST is responsible for developing and implementing education policies, curricula, and standards. It also oversees the administration of national examinations.
Types of examinations in the school level education system in Nepal:
- Basic Level Examination (BLE): This examination is conducted at the end of grade 8 to assess students' learning in the primary and lower secondary levels. It is a compulsory examination for all students.
- Secondary Education Examination (SEE): This examination is conducted at the end of grade 10 to assess students' learning at the secondary level. It is a compulsory examination for all students who wish to continue their education to the higher secondary level.
- School Leaving Certificate (SLC): This examination is conducted at the end of grade 12 to assess students' learning at the end-of-school level. It is also called the National Examination Board (NEB). It is a compulsory examination for all students who wish to continue their education to the university level.
In addition to these national examinations, there are also a number of other examinations that students may take, such as entrance examinations for private schools and competitive examinations for scholarships and government jobs.
The school-level education system in Nepal has undergone a number of reforms in recent years, with the aim of improving the quality of education and making it more accessible to all children. However, there are still a number of challenges facing the education system, such as high dropout rates, a shortage of qualified teachers, and a lack of resources in some schools.
